Finally I has found a tutorial about how to removing stock apps with Root Explorer in your samsung moment. I know this tutorial is not save for you, but you must proceed on your own risk if you use this tutorial. So, let’s begin this tutorial.
Firs steps :
You must have Root Explorer if you want to removing stock apps in your samsung moment. You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me.
The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only).
It is just as it says – r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).
Your phone needs to be rooted for this to work! After all, we are in the “All things root section”.
Second Steps :
- remove sd card from phone and use pc to create new folder on sd card – “deleted” or you can use Astro to do this
- put sd card back in phoneopen root explorer
- It works like windows – the apps are in system>app
- find the app you want to remove (start with bejeweled)
- make sure the top text says “Mounted as r/w” (press the grey rectangle if it doesn’t)
- long press the app and select “move”
- select menu>home
- now go to sd card>deleted instead of system>app
- you will see “paste” on the bottom – press it
- repeat as necessary
I did it this way because I wanted to maintain copies.
You could just delete rather than move.
You can also remove any .odex files of the same name.
Please do a search if you want to know which apps to remove or what their names are.
If you get a problem like : can’t change it to r/w in the system folder?, you can do this steps :
First – Installing DD10 alone does not root your phone (even if it was rooted).
You must then install the joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v5.zip found hereSecond – There are several ways to verify you are rooted. I know of
- download “connectbot” from the market and open it
- change “ssh” to “local” and give it any name
- type “su” at the $
if it changes to #, your phone is rooted
If you can’t change to rw in root explorer, you’re not rooted. So, you must change it buddy. So, finally this is the end of this tutorial. I hope this tutorial can useful for you. Thanks…. ^_^
Added simple tutorial buddy, Charlie added the simple tutorial to removing stock apps :
